The Other Forgotten Brothers

There are currently 56,000 incarcerated Vietnam Veterans.
Some have been wrongfully convicted.

Others would just like to have some contact with the outside world.

Please take some time to read their stories, and find out how you can make a difference in their life.

Free Burl Bilyeu, a Vietnam Veteran that has been wrongfully incarcerated since 1983.

"Burl Bilyeu, Jr. a former combat marine who served in Vietnam has proclaimed he is totally innocent and has been falsely accused and convicted of Murder and Robbery he was arrested for. We have investigated Burl's side of his story and find that he is telling the truth."
The above headlines came from the United Veterans of America.

I have personally reviewed some of the facts pertaining to Burl's case, and believe him to be innocent, without a doubt. I urge you to help undue this terrible wrong that has been done to this man and his aging parents. He has already been robbed of over 15 years of his life. In the correspondance that I have had with Burl, he has been completely open and totally honest in every way.

Here are just a few of the facts.

In the police reports, the two suspects were reported to be in their teens or early 20's. At that time, Burl was approximately 31 years old. The suspects were said to have been left-handed. Burl is right-handed.

The teen that testified against Burl made a deal for second degree murder which carries a sentence of fifteen to life. This teen used to work at the liquor store where the robbery happened. Both weapons were owned by this teen, and found at his house. His fingerprints and the fingerprints of another teen were the only ones found on the weapons. The fact that Burl's fingerprints were not found never came up at the trial.

Burl's trial lawyer, who volunteered to take the case, was a friend of the victims. He never believed Burl was telling the truth, and was heard saying to people in the county building that he was going to throw the case. After Burl's conviction, Burl fired him, and he later committed suicide.

There were over 20 witnesses to the fact that Burl was seen working at his business at the time of the crime, but the detective working the case discouraged them from testifying in Burl's behalf.
